Levi Roots named new chair of St Pauls Carnival

Levi Roots, the man made famous by his Reggae Reggae Sauce, has been named as the new chair of St Pauls Carnival. Roots will take up the role in September on a three year term, taking over from current interim chair and long time board member Carole Johnson who will resume her role as vice chair.

“It feels wonderful for the people of Bristol to put their trust in me, to be able to chair and take control of something that is so dear and important to them and the heritage, that is St Pauls Carnival,” he said.

“So I’m really chuffed at the bits and really inspired by this and can’t wait to begin this role.” Levi found fame in 2007 when he appeared on Dragon’s Den and pitched his Reggae Reggae Sauce which he had been selling at food fairs and Notting Hill Carnival for 16 years before that.
